About UsTite Site HistoryWhen working with a major civil earthworks company in Wellington, David Lee, founder of Tite Site, was often asked to price work in 'access challenged' areas ("tight sites"), domestic backyards, under houses, behind commercial buildings, behind concrete block walls in need of backfilling or excavation. However the equipment he had at that time was full size, the diggers, trucks, compactors etc were all suited to open construction sites, so to were the men who operated the machinery...they were used to open sites with plenty of room to move. The idea of a boutique earthworks company was hatched: A company where all equipment needed on site would fit through a domestic doorway!Where the men employed would be skilled in operating in tight spaces and would be polite and well presented and whose presence in private domestic properties would be welcomed. The name 'Tite Site' emerged and is now a 'household' word with people who have had their difficult, access challenged construction sites conquered! Soon after the creation of Tite Site Works Ltd, and the acquisition of a minidigger and small truck, the opportunity arose to purchase several 'miniveyors' which had previously belonged to Projex Equipment Hire - who had decided to sell these units as the repairs and maintenance on them was too expensive. These 'mini' conveyors became the backbone of the Tite Site operation and have moved hundreds of cubic metres of material over the years. These 3 metre long miniveyors were great for getting round corners but the need was identified for a longer main conveyor to complement the system. The 'Super-Nova' conveyor was invented, designed and built by Tite Site. It is a modular conveyor that can be put together to span any distance desired. So with the right equipment, and the right men, Tite Site has become known by builders, architects, engineers and domestic householders as the 'go to' company for moving material in and out of tight sites. |
